Series 9000
Thermally Insulated Control Damper

Series 9000 Damper
  • TAMCO's thermally insulated blades are constructed using an aluminum shell, injected with polyurethane foam.
  • Optimum placement of three thermal breaks along the blades isolates the warm and cold sides of the damper.
  • Non-metallic side seals minimize thermal bridging across damper surfaces.
  • These design features combine to control the forces of radiation, convection, conduction, and infiltration. This ensures blade insulating effectiveness.
  • Extremely flexible silicone side seals and EPDM blade seals are supplied as standard.
  • TAMCO seals provide outstanding dynamic fatigue resistance, ensuring consistent minimal leakage rate performance and sealing longevity.
  • Series 9000 thermally insulated dampers are constructed with all of the maintenance-free bearing and linkage components used in TAMCO's other high-quality products.

  • (Caution: Never use any lubricants, such as grease or silicone on TAMCO dampers.)

Series 9000 Thermally Insulated Damper:

  • If coil freeze-up is a concern.
  • For air handler intake and exhaust.
  • If the damper is closed approximately 50 % of the time.
  • Where low leakage, maintenance-free dampers are required for ducted or non-ducted outside walls, or plenums.

SC - Severe Cold Temperature Option:

  • Where retaining low leakage performance at severe cold temperatures is a concern. Silicone seals are virtually unaffected by cold winter temperatures. (See Options and Leakage for more details.)

MR - Moisture Resistance Option:

  • Excellent cold climate solution for applications where dampers are exposed to extended periods of high humidity or high moisture, such as water treatment facilities, municipal pools, greenhouses and cooling towers.
  • Cost effective alternative to the Salt Water Resistance Option for applications where salt spray is not a concern. (See Options for more details.)

SW - Salt Water Resistance Option:

  • Ideally suited for coastal climates
  • Recommended for inland applications, where tire spray from winter-salted roads have been known to corrode dampers installed in close proximity to roads or highways. (See Options and Leakage for more details.)

Recommendation: In applications where the humidity level is unusually elevated, or where there are extremely high levels of dust and dirt particles, TAMCO recommends that the damper linkage and bearing system should be cleaned once a year. This can be done by blowing away dust using compressed air. If needed, a domestic-strength steam cleaner can be used to loosen dirt, which can then be blown out with compressed air, along with any remaining water droplets.

Series 9000 Thermally Insulated Dampers, including all applicable options:

Leakage Class 1A at 1 in. w.g. (0.25 kPa) static pressure differential. Standard air leakage data is certified under the AMCA Certified Ratings Program.

SC - Severe Cold Temperature Option:

  • Blade and frame seals are extruded silicone, ensuring minimal change in leakage rates as temperature drops, making this damper ideal for severe cold weather applications.
  • This grade of silicone and its leakage resistant properties are virtually unaffected by cold winter temperatures, as the silicone retains flexibility down to -40°F (-40°C).

MR - Moisture Resistance Option:

  • All zinc-plated steel hardware is replaced with stainless steel, protecting hardware from rust and corrosion when exposed to high humidity or high moisture environments.

SW - Salt Water Resistance Option:

  • Extruded aluminum frames, blades and hardware are clear anodized to a depth of 0.7 mil. (18 microns). This prevents rusting and pitting when dampers are exposed to salt spray or high humidity environments.
  • Blade and frame seals are extruded silicone, for reduced air leakage at colder temperatures.
  • Silicone formula retains flexibility to -40°F(-40°C).
  • All zinc-plated, steel hardware is replaced wtih stainless steel, protecting hardware from rust and corrosion.
  • All aluminum linkage hardware parts are clear anodized.
